New Student Development in Beeston

We were very disappointed to learn that the government have decided to give planning permission for a large block of student flats in the centre of Beeston, next to the Ark cinema, despite the borough council turning it down. 

The site already has planning permission for the development of residential flats for families, and this would have brought many more people into the town centre. Instead Michael Gove has decided that the area can be used for student housing instead, meaning that they will be unoccupied for several months each year and the borough will need to find alternative homes for families.

We think that this is the wrong decision and that Beeston residents have been badly let down by our Conservative government.

We are also disappointed that we haven't heard a word about this from our Conservative member of parliament.
