Graham Heal-First of 2 candidates selected for Toton, Chilwell & Attenborough

“Graham has lived in the area for over 25 years, first in Attenborough and latterly in Toton. He passionately believes that the local community should  be placed at the centre of all decisions affecting the community. To that end, he has spent the last 6 years immersed in local organisations and activities ranging from:

  • a volunteer for the Notts Wildlife Trust
  • Secretary of the Friends of Toton Fields Local Nature Reserve
  • founding member and, until recently,  Secretary of the Toton and Chilwell Neighbourhood Forum
  • trustee of Voluntary Action Broxtowe charity
  • trustee of CA Plus – a Nottingham-based charity focussed on providing financial services to charities.

Graham is proud to have played an instrumental role in producing the Neighbourhood Plan for Toton and West Chilwell. The Plan is in the final stages of being adopted by Broxtowe Council and so Graham’s current focus is helping to implement the key policies of the Plan – namely protecting and enhancing the environment of our area. He is a member of the Forum’s Environmental Focus Group and is currently working on identifying those mature & veteran trees that need protection. So, you are quite likely to see me out and about in the area taking measurements (and photographs) of our local trees!

The main reason I’m standing to represent you at County Hall is to ensure the residents of Toton, Chilwell and Attenborough have a strong voice when it comes to decisions made affecting our area – especially the transformational changes we can expect to see with the sale and re-development of Chetwynd Barracks and the development of the East Midlands Hub Station at Toton Sidings. Only someone who is immersed in local issues can truly represent local residents when it comes to decisions made at County Hall.”
